⁵ When King David came to Bahurim, a man who was a distant cousin of Saul came out cursing. His name was Shimei, son of Gera. ⁶ He threw stones at David and David’s servants, although all the people and all the warriors were shielding David. ⁷ Shimei cursed and said, “Get out! Get out, you bloodthirsty man! You worthless person!
